Gay Marriage

Here is what the wedding picture might look like if former Congresmen Mark Foley and Larry Craig were allowed to "marry". I think most gay people would agree this is one couple who should never be issued a license for anything, not driving, not fishing and certainly not a marriage license. Besides what's next? A men's room in Massachusetts called the Barney Bridal Suite? Ok, that's crass. Sorry.

I'm for Civil Unions. Gay men and women should have the same rights as heterosexual men and women in health care, jobs, housing, education, voting and all legal benefits under the law.

Differences exist and they at times create situations in which you are treated differently under the law. Law abiding citizens are discriminated against all the time. Your an adult but you want to play Little League Baseball. You can't because it's for KIDS. You want to park close but your not handicapped. But sadly marriage is no longer just for a man and a woman.

Most gay people who are not in the closet and then this topic really, really doesn't apply to them anyways, probably don't want to be called straight. They may prefer gay, queer, lesbian, homosexual, bi-sexual or whatever. These words are the words they prefer to reserve for themselves provided they are not used as slurs. So words are important to gays. I can understand their wanting to hijack the word marriage and change it's meaning just the way the meaning of gay has forever been changed. They want legitamcy after somewhat living their lives without any in this regard or at least without as much legitamcy as they would like.

Call me a homophobe and you would be wrong. I am not offended by the sight of two males or females together. I honestly do not care what they do in public short of having sex. They want to hold hands, kiss, grab each other's asses or otherwise act like me and my wife so what.

What does piss me off about gay men is that they have more sense of style than I do. Most of them seem to be skinny. Easily. Except for the old ones like the two pervs pictured above. It is not OK to make the toliet your pick up place or to use your elected office to get sex. Gay or straight.

Yes, in my opinion, marriage refers to, and should continue to, but is unlikely to be one man and one woman. Except in Utah and parts of Arizona and apparently most of Africa. It should be left that way. A zebra is not a horse with stripes but it's close. Funny how the fight doesn't involve what the dissolution of a civil union be called. At that point nobody usually gives a damn what you call it.

Marriage is a word we heterosexual breeders prefer to reserve for ourselves. If a church wants to bless a Civil Union and the parishoners want to continue to worship there that is their business. But at the court house it's a Marriage Certificate or a Civil Union Certificate or a Domestic Partnership License or a Life Unioin... or whatever.

You watch, this ain't going away even though gay Americans may get want they are asking for. If they do we all may see legislation calling for the creation of a NATURAL MARRIAGE license that defines who may receive it. I promise you it will not be for a Larry and Mark.

What's the difference? Words.Semantics. Let us have ours and in return you might get more tolerance and maybe more acceptance. After all if your stop trying to tear apart our institutions why wouldn't we be more tolerant and accepting?

OK, the seperate but equal argument is lame. Go ahead, call it marriage. I don't like it but I am not a bigot. Just when sending out the invitations address ours to Mr. and MRS. Joe Six Pack but guys please register at Home Depot for goodness sake not Bed, Bath and Beyond.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This week March 19, 2009 without consulting Joe Six Pack, Vermont became the third state to legalize Gay Marriage. The other two are Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Editor's Note, note, note: Dick Chey's daughter and other "conservative" voices say the GOP needs to dump this issue and realize that if gay people want to live in the same miserable conditions they majority of everyone ese lives in (not me, my wife is cool but I am the exception) then let them.

Editor's Note, note, note, note: Miss California pissed off every self promoting fat gay judge at the Miss Universe Pagent after coming out against gay marriage. A San Fransisco Gay web site called her remarks "Anti-Gay Blather". Hey what happened to let's agree to disagree? No one needs to go around using words like Blather. This same lesbian web site also bashed people with penises and didn't diffentiate between gay or straight peni. So much for tolerance.
